Chicago Tragedy Not Politically Advantageous for the Left
On the South Side of
Chicago, a young man started shooting at two other men in a crowd. They returned fire. When the dust settled a six year old girl was
down. She had been hit in the chest and
was lying on the ground covered in an ever widening pool of her own blood. The victim, who is fighting for her life, is
Quianna Tompkins. Quianna is Black. The shooter is Black. The only other victim, a 52 year old woman,
is Black. The intended victims of the
shooter are Black.
Surprisingly, Michelle Obama has not issued a statement
saying that she, “could be” Quianna, even though she also grew up in South Side
Chicago. Shockingly, Al Sharpton, Jesse
Jackson, Attorney General Eric Holder and the usual array of race baiters that
popped up like whack-a-moles for the George Zimmerman case, have nothing to say
about this horrible violence. There is
no compassion, no call to arms, no Hollywood tweets, no rallies for this little
girl. There is no institutional outrage
for Quianna.
Why? Why silence from the White House? Why disinterest from Black politicians? Why studied avoidance of the incident by the
media? Why do Blacks shooting their own
children merit nothing of national rancor, while the George Zimmerman case
can’t stop being a front page issue?
Why? Because there is no political advantage for
the Democratic Party in pointing out that the Black community has one standard
of conduct for itself and another for everyone else. That is a harsh thing to say, but look at the
quote by the girl’s mother, Juannakee Kennedy:
"Please, I know you
didn't mean to do this on purpose," Kennedy said. "Please don't go
the Ugh life with guilt on your heart. We forgive you. We just want some
justice for our baby."
This
woman’s six year old daughter had just been shot through the chest and she
says, “…you didn’t mean to do this on purpose…”
For the love of God, this man had opened fire in a crowd. What did he think was going to happen? It is as if he gets a pass on the shooting,
but needs forgiveness for bad aim. Did
this woman forgive George Zimmerman for the deadly outcome of his ill
intentioned actions? Of course not. Yet, she forgives her daughter’s shooter,
only because he is Black.
If
someone had shot a member of my family the everlasting love of God could not
protect them from my curse!
This
is no defense of George Zimmerman. If I
were on his jury none of us would have seen the light of day until we delivered
a guilty verdict. Zimmerman should have
stayed in the safety of his vehicle, and the minute he left it he became a
predator. Neither is this a defense of
Travyon Martin. He was a pot smoking
punk who liked guns and attitude. If he
hadn’t been in trouble with the law yet, he was well on his way. But you don’t deserve to die just for being a
fool. This is, however, a condemnation
of all of the opportunistic, dim-witted, self-serving grand standers out there
who can’t wait for the next black-on-white confrontation to stir up racial
divisiveness.
To
the strident voices who have been trying so very hard to accrue power and
profit from the Zimmerman case, I have a suggestion. If you really hate violence, let’s see some
of your energy directed toward the South Side of Chicago. There is a little girl there who could use
your help.
Let’s
face reality, and try to keep the faith.
