Mary Landrieu Has Been Grubered


We have all been Grubered.  Some of us knew it from the beginning; others only noticed it after bending over in the shower.  We were Grubered on Obamacare; we were Grubered by Lerner and the I.R.S.; we were Grubered by Hillary on Benghazi; by Holder and Fast and Furious.  We’ve be Grubered so many times over the last six years that I think the, “Gruber” should be added to the list of positions in the Kama Sutra.

            No, the voters of America are not stupid.  We are sometimes naïve, frequently more hopeful than realistic, and usually as loyal as a golden retriever, but not stupid.  Stupid involves a consistent rejection of reality, or a failure to recognize reality, or a misinterpretation of reality.  Enter, Mary Landrieu, the honorable Senator from the great state of Louisiana.   

            Landrieu joins the long line of people in this country who have been Grubered by this administration.  Mind you, I am wasting no sympathy on Sen. Landrieu.  She has a 97% voting record with the Obama White House.  She made her bed and now must lie in it.  But right now she must be wandering around in a mental haze wondering where she went wrong.  She was a good girl.  She did exactly what the party wanted of her.  She talked in favor of the Keystone Pipeline while letting Harry Reid bottle it up, never allowing a vote on the bill.  The reasons were clear.  A vote on the pipeline would require Reid’s, “people” to commit in a mighty public way to a bill that the public (especially oil sensitive Louisiana) want by a 2:1 margin, but the administration and the big green donors of the Democratic Party do not.  It was all a game.  The Democrats don’t want votes on policies where their vision of the perfect America is radically different than the rank and file of our citizens (who are not stupid when it comes to telling a, “yes” from a, “no” vote on a bill).  This is why they did not pass a budget when they had a veto proof majority in the House, Senate and White House.  They knew the majority of Americans would look at that budget and choke.  So, they don’t allow divisional votes on the floor, whether or not they would win, and then complain that the Republicans won’t compromise. 

During this entire charade, Mary Landrieu put on her burqa, played the role she was given, spouted the party line, and expected some loyalty in return.  Silly girl.  Has she not been watching?  Did this administration not send Susan Rice out with the crap about Benghazi being caused by a video?  Did they not send Lerner out to say the I.R.S. never violates its mandates?  Did they not blame Hillary’s State Department for the bad intelligence on the rise of ISIS?  This is an administration of devoted misogynists.  They could have ginned up a couple of extra votes for her to pass Keystone this afternoon.  It might have made her run-off election a little more of a contest.  They could have left her with a little pride.  In the words of Marlon Brando, she could have been a contender—she could have been somebody.  But they didn’t. 

One more woman under the buss—but the big donor list is still intact. 

Mary Landrieu has been Grubered.  How she reacts to this will tell us how smart she really is. 

Face facts and keep the faith.

Our Beautiful Constitution and its Ugly Opponents

 The Constitution is our anchor of stability in a turbulent world!   We can withstand a bad President and a petulant Congress (for the short term, at least) because our Constitution both guides and limits.   If someone asked me to provide proof of a loving God, I would simply ask them how else so many geniuses in the matter of human governance could have been clustered together in the right time and place to create both our country and the means to govern it.    Our founding fathers had the vision to devise a way to not only govern themselves, but govern a country that they could not imagine, yet believed would prevail. "You Didn't Build That:" Part I
