Condoleezza Rice, James Caviezel and Snooki

In 2011 Rutgers student association paid Snooki (a person on some reality television show called, “Jersey Shore”) $32,000 to appear on campus.  She did two one-hour question and answer gigs.  That is $2000 more than they paid the Nobel prize winning author, Toni Morrison, as Rutgers’ commencement speaker.  The University saw nothing wrong in this, the students get to make their own choices; after all, we all know how intelligent and responsible college undergrads are.

The 2012 speaker was Greg Brown, CEO of Motorola Solutions and an Obama appointee.  The 2013 commencement duties went to Virginia Long, a Democrat and considered one of the most Liberal justices on the New Jersey Supreme Court.  Prior to the watershed year of 2011, when Rutgers started paying its commencement speakers another speaker was Tavis Smiley, a radio talk show host, political commentator and aide to Mayor Tom Bradley.  If you are keeping score, this means we have one white man (Bachelor’s degree), one black man (no college degree), one white woman (J.D.), and one black woman (B.A., M.A.).  I’m taking Snooki (who is a high school graduate) off this list because she was not a commencement speaker.  She did bring in $32K for doing that voodoo that she do so well, but no commencement for her, whether she could spell it or not.

This year Rutgers has invited Condoleezza Rice to be its commencement speaker.  Unfortunately the faculty and students of this fine school are up in arms about the selection.  Why?  Well let’s look at Rice’s qualifications.

1.       She has a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D.

2.      She was our 66th Secretary of State.

3.      She is a classical pianist.

4.      She was Provost of Stanford University

5.      She grew up in the violence of the Civil Rights Movement in Alabama.

So, given the bios of the other commencement speakers, what is the faculty’s problem with Rice?  She is a Republican.  She worked for the man liberals love to hate, President George W. Bush.  She isn’t following the liberal line of what a black female should say, think and believe.  She isn’t, “Snooki.”

This class hatred of anyone not toeing the party line is common.  Actor James Caviezel is a fine actor.  He starred in Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ and currently stars in the best new drama on television, Person of Interest.  This man has been systematically ignored and stigmatized by Hollywood because he is an unashamed, vocal, practicing Catholic.  He practices what he preaches.  Evidently Hollywood would rather lionize its drugged out, bed hopping, butt baring liberals than acknowledge one good Christian.

The one sided mantra of liberals is designed to silence anyone they disagree with.   That is why Rutgers’ faculty doesn’t want Rice.  They don’t mind poorly qualified, marginally disciplined and morally flawed people giving advice to our young people.  But Heaven forbid they get a lesson in life from an educated black woman who achieved success through hard work, dedication to principle, and Christian values.   That might make the students think the crap they’ve been served by their teachers could be a lie.

What sets me teeth itching is the fact that if someone criticized a liberal black speaker they would immediately be labeled a racist.  What do you call these snotty, self-important, narrow minded critics of Rice?  I just call them, “wrong.”

Learn about the life of Condoleezza Rice; she’s kept the faith.
