A Coward and a Liar Tries to Cast Shade on Real Heroes

 

President Donald Trump has sparked global indignation by suggesting NATO troops avoid frontline combat, minimizing the sacrifice made by America’s allies.  These are lies, they are the work of Trump and Putin acting together and they are hypocritical from Old Bone Spurs, who used daddy’s money to avoid military service five times. 

     Here is just one example of Trump’s lie.

     While visiting some friends on Vancouver Island, Canada, my husband and I were taken to a memorial on Radar Hill in the interior mountains of the island.   The memorial was a commemoration of the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (2 PPCLI) and their moment of exceptional valor which occurred during the Battle of Kapyong, April 22-25, 1951. 

     The Korean War is frequently referred to as the, “forgotten” war.   It certainly isn’t by those who fought there, much less the heroic Canadians who, outnumbered 7 to 1 by battled hardened Communist Chinese troops, called in air strikes against their own position to avoid being overrun.  These courageous Canadians chose to face “friendly fire” rather than allow a Chinese victory. Captain J. G. W. Mills, called for a withering artillery barrage against the enemy.  Because the fighting was so close, that barrage would, by necessity, fall on his own men.  The Canadians hunkered down, fought back and took the hit.

     It succeeded.  His men, disciplined, prepared, well led and determined, survived the shelling and inflicted their own intense damage on the hordes of infantry coming towards them. 

     I was awed by the courage of these men.  To be willing to absorb the hit of your own artillery in the hope of victory is an act of tremendous courage.  Add to this, the fact that they weren’t even defending their own land or people.  They were on that hill to protect the retreat of the South Korean soldiers.  Those Canadian men were there because they were fighting for something more abstract than “God, Queen and country.”  They were fighting for freedom, right and honor.   You need only look now at the difference between North and South Korea to see how important that is.

     Our current corrupt, cowardly, criminal and mentally impaired President has impugned the courage and commitment of Canada, the U.K., and other specific NATO allies.  He touts his bro-mance with the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, but denigrates the efforts of true patriots.  Trump is a loathsome, flaccid tapeworm sucking the power from the position of the Presidency and laying his squirming eggs of anarchy in the feces he deposits in every room of the White House. 

     Work to lawfully remove Trump from office.  It is the only way to keep the faith.

The Rose Garden and Divorce

  I have a friend who went through a mean-spirited divorce.   The day before the decree was granted, her husband’s last act of anger was to tear down a barn swallow nest that had been a part of their lives for many years.   The birds had come back every spring to raise their young, making a mess of the porch, but a delightful display for her and her children.   My friend came home to find the ruined nest on the doorstep.   No reason, no sense, no graciousness, just petulant anger.   Our current President has sent in heavy machinery and destroyed the White House Rose Garden.   He has covered it with concrete, turning it into a large patio, like the one he has at Mar-a-Lago.     Since he has no knowledge of the history of this garden, let me share it with you. Honoring Our Fallen Dead on Memorial Day
